I have always thought that finishing my first internship abroad and leaving New Romney was something way ahead of me; something that was still a long way off. Well, it had a way of sneaking up on me. And here I am … It is my time to leave and it is also a time to reflect on the past and perhaps a moment that brings with it echoes from the past and my days in a little village in the south of England.
The company has played an integral role in my life for the last 6 months. It was a time and an experience that I will hold close to me in the future. I consider it both a privilege and an honour to have been involved with Studio Solution company. Together with more than 40 interns from all over Europe, I have seen amazing things happen – visions have been created, goals were structured and aspirations that started out as ideals, more often than not, became tangible realities. Success is a testimony to each and every intern here in New Romney. We have worked together, argued together, shared our problems and hopes together and established ourselves as a team – not always in agreement, but always together.
As I am writing my very last article I cannot believe how blessed I am to have been able to count so many friends. I have indeed been incredibly fortunate to have been surrounded by so many friends, mentors, role models and leaders- all of them special in their respective and unique ways. It is not possible to feel lonely in New Romney, that is why this place is so special to me. I was with people most of the time – I shared so many special moments, not only in the working hours in the office but also outside work, when we were cooking, cleaning, doing the laundry, watching movies or when we were going for some great trips or when we had crazy parties. We laughed all together, we cried all together. We were happy all together, we were sad all together. These are the moments that I will miss the most – these are the intangible daily magical moments that define those incredible people who made my internship special.
Of course as in any internship, my internship in New Romney had also some up’s and down’s but for me there were more ups than downs and amazing moments. The best thing is that I discovered my second family here in New Romney. I discovered what it was like to know people who really cared about me and took care of me whenever I needed it. Even if I tried to be strong and happy, sometimes the feeling of being lonely, away from my family and friends was really strong. But every time I was sad, I just had to look around me and I could see these wonderful people, who always tried to make me feel happy. Because of those special people I realized that I could call New Romney my second home.
I am sure about one thing – I do not regret anything I did during my internship. Now my time here has come to an end and I still cannot believe I will not be here any more in a couple of days. Leaving this amazing place and those special people is quite difficult. Everyone that I met here gave me something special and I learnt a lot from everyone. I am very grateful for this incredible experience and all the people I had the chance to meet. I will never forget New Romney and all the lovely people, who have become a part of my life now.
